Project Pat - You Like 2006
Project Pat - Crack A Head 2006
Frayser Boy - Intro: Me Being Me 2005
Buy Crook By the Book
As you scramble to keep up with the fourth quarter major label rap bombardment, don’t let Project Pat’s Crook By The Book: The Fed Story fly under the radar.
Tom Breihan Tomzino beat me to the punch, pretty much saying everything I had to say about both Crook and Z-Ro’s equally phenomenal (and similarly bleak) I’m Still Livin. Pat’s still a gangster caricature, ridiculous and ignorant as the rest of HCP, but post-incarceration Pat has a maturity about him and Crook isn’t as silly as expected. Kind of reminds me of Juvenile’s Project English, which has a sort of damn-it’s-real-wild-out-here vibe. Not that that’s a bad thing. HCP’s come a long way from rapping about magic and vampires; Juicy J and DJ Paul have made themselves into North North’s ambassador to Hollywood, Pat is now spitting gravely wisdom, and Lil Wyte and Frayser Boy are sharp enough on the mic to make up for a decade of Crunchy Black.
Juice and Paul have been leaning more heavily on the soul samples as of late, and Crook follows the trend. Even if they aren’t getting their fingers too dusty with their sources, they’ve revitalized their sound with the soul obsession. When they borrow from something Memphis, it’s poetic. “You Like” is pretty nice in that respect, as is “What Money Do”. But as we hear on “Crack A Head”, they haven’t turned on their earlier buckwild vampire style. Sometimes it’s monotonous (”Purple” is pretty weak, even with Beanie Mack on the guest vocals), but Paul and J generally don’t fuck up. They actually recycled the whistle from Frayser Boy’s intro to Me Being Me for “Crack A Head”, but that was an unreasonably substantial track wasted on an intro.
I don’t really know what to say about the intro to “You Like” other than Wow. Please post your theories for how this came about in the comments section.

See, a house is more than property, it is a home. And Home is supposed to be where the heart is according to the old saying. So, if God has given you stewardship over a house and your house is your home, than He has given you stewardship over a home. Home is where there is solace. Home breeds peace. Home breeds love. Home gives you a sense of being, of belonging. A happy home is a home where God resides. And you know He resides there by peace, love, and solace that comes from it. "When I think of home, I think of a place where there's love overflowing," says Stephanie Mills.
So, you're asking what does all this ahve to do with the title of the blog? Well, last New Year's Eve, God gave me a message. That of a more abundant life. This year... He gave it to me early. A change is gonna come. A lot of us fear change, we dislike it. We think change is evil because we are set in are ways. We want to do what we want to do. But if a change is gonna come, and God is in the change, why fight it? Why battle against God? There is nothing wrong with shaking things up a li'l bit especially if it means God will get the glory. I mean, isn't that exactly why we celebrate this time of year? No one shook things up more than Christ did. Born of virgin in a manger because there was no room at the inn, went to Egypt to escape Herod's wickedness, came back, taught in the temple at 12, started his ministry at 30, saved humanity at 33. So, we have to understand that God will move alot of stuff in order for him to do what needs to be done to get His people where they need to be.
I have learned over the past 3-4 months that God never changes but He is in change. If we kept doing the same thing over and over and over again, we'd stagnate. We keep running in place and never moving. Well, saints, it's time to move. Stop being weighed down, bogged down in the same ol' crap you've been doing. God is waiting for YOU! He has called you, He brought you, He has sustained you and all you can do is sit there? I think not. I for one, am looking forward to change. It has been my life for 4 years. One big change after another. I embrace it, I love it because every change has been an excellent blessing. Now, it's time for you to enjoy it also. Don't be satisfied with an iPod if God is trying to give you a MacBook Pro. Give it all to Him, let Him ordain the change in your life. And watch the blessings flow.

Bahamadia - UKNOWHOWWEDU (Rob One’s Bring It Back To Philly B-Boy Mix) 1996
DJ Rob One who tragically died of cancer in 2000 was a legend in LA Hiphop. A b-boy’s b-boy whether getting up with his CBS Crew, gettin down on KCUN Radio with his “Fly ID Show”, putting out classic mixtapes or working for Hiphop at EMI.
The above remix appeared on an EMI Promo titled “No tricks in 96′ it’s time to build”. The 12″ also featured a remix of “UKNOWHOWWEDU” by a favourite of mine Kool DJ EQ from Las Vegas, along with a couple of ten-minute mixtape style blends of EMI’s impending releases for 96 (AZ, D’Angelo and Rappin’ 4-Tay). The star of the show though is Rob One’s masterful remix of Bahamadia’s infamously catchy single.
Rob takes us back to Grandmaster Flash’s “Adventures” and even further back to the parks and rec rooms of ground zero: The Bronx. Cutting in “Rocket In The Pocket” throughout is even better than having a beat by Ski on the original, ‘cos you know Cerrone was the break if you was diggin’ in the crates…
Rob cuts in snippets of all the Philly legends Bahamadia shouts out, a la Spinbad’s intricate reworking of “Hip-Hop vs. Rap”. Cash Money, Lady B, Charlie Mack, Schoolly D, 3-D and on and on.
DJ remixes that eschew MPCs, SP1200s and instruments in favour of blackplastic are as Hiphop as Hiphop gets. Like Rob One, whose memory needs to rock rock on.

Since the mid-90s, a duo has been making its way to the top of the Spanish-speaking hip-hop world. Initially blasting the very widespread hardcore sound influenced by El Club de los Poetas Violentos, i.e. rough-ass beats and equally hoarse and raspy voices, DJ Acción Sánchez (Oscar Sánchez) and MC Zatu (Saturnio Rey) have expanded their musical and lyrical horizons with every album and every 12"
