This is my new motto, based on actual events. I have recently discovered the joys of outdoor grilling with charcoal. I must admit, I have adapted to it quite nicely. I was grilling a chicken leg and as I was trying to flip it over with the tongs, I dropped it into the charcoal. Hence my new motto for life.

Last Friday, I wanted to post because I had a lot on my mind. I worked a LONG day: 4am -6:45pm. I had time to think about many things my life, the lives of those I love, and the lives of the billions of people on this planet. It was going to be a very good blog. I have since forgotten all of it. However, I have recently been in a battle. A confrontation, if you will. And I have to figure out if I am listening to the Lord, listening to myself and my frustrations, or just making stuff up because it sounds good. I have battled with this once before when the Lord called me to preach. I battled for probably a year or two. I don't want to stretch this out that long. I need to go down in prayer, serious prayer, alone prayer and determine if God is truly leading me in the direction I think He is. If He is, it will mean a HUGE change for myself and my family. I shall pray on it and I ask that all who know the words of prayer, pray for us.

It is time to re-focus. Not just myself but for all of those who may be reading. If you have not done so already, it is time to return to your fist works, your priorities. What do I mean? HAve you ever been so caught up, so steeped in everyday life that you lose your sense of self? I mean your true sense of self. Before anything, we are God's creations. But often, too often, we lose the fact that we are His in our job titles, our positions, our roles, everything. Too often, we let the issues of the world drag us into their problems. TOo often, we try to fight our battles with nothing. It is not our battle to fight. We rely on ourselves too much and not enough on God. He will empower, He will strengthen, He will give rest. But not if we don't or won't rely on Him. ANd by relying on Him, we have to be familiar with what He says and how He likes to do things, and to be familiar with all of that, we must be students of His word. To be a student of His word is not just about sitting home and reading the Bible, it IS about being in Church, being prayer meetings, being in classes. Before I started working at NBC10, I had to be a student of broadcasting. There were some things I had to know before anyone at the station would even consider hiring me. Other things I learned on the job, things that were specific to WCAU-TV but the basic parts of the television industry I learned while I attended Temple. We have to be the same with our faith. Because if we do not learn, we are liable and likely to fall into Satan's traps and not be able to escape his clutches. If we do not learn, we are likely and liable to fall into our own understanding and not that of the Lord himself. And our understanding is limited, flawed. It is time to re-focus. Re-focus our lives, re-focus our dreams, re-focus our desires. We need to get back to where we started from. And for some of us, where we should have started from.

I think that is all right now. I had some comments on the state of the world but I am so tired, I may have to reserve them for another time.

Me, in a nutshell…

Your Element Is Air
You dislike conflict, and you've been able to rise above the angst of the world. And when things don't go your way, you know they'll blow over quickly.

Easygoing, you tend to find joy from the simple things in life. You roll with the punches, and as a result, your life is light and cheerful.

You find it easy to adapt to most situations, and you're an open person. With you, what you see is what you get... and people love that!

Everything must go? (clearing post)
